Course Description

This ITEC diploma is devised for qualified beauticians who have successfully completed the ITEC professional conduct and Business Awareness module or equivalent.
The programme will consist of massage practical, massage theory and anatomy & physiology and will be delivered every second Sunday over a period of 9 months.
Full body massage is an excellent additional qualification which offers more career options and employment opportunities.
Participants will be exempt from the Professional Conduct & Business Awareness module and exam. Proof of qualification must be supplied with the application form.

What is Holistic Massage?
The treatment of certain ailments by rubbing or stroking the affected part is a practice found in almost all societies from the beginning of recorded time. In the early 1800's Per Henrick Ling, drawing on his knowledge of techniques used in China and elsewhere, developed Swedish massage. His technique quickly established itself in institutes and spas all over Europe.

Holistic Massage is a variant of Ling's technique - adapted to the needs of modern stressful life. By treating the whole person it aims to relax the muscles, calm the emotions, improve the circulation, recharge the body's immune system, refresh the spirit, balance the life forces and, thus, heal the patient's "dis-ease".

This is achieved by the use of relaxation techniques, the playing of calming music, the employment, where necessary, of essential oils, and, most importantly, listening carefully to the client and attending to his or her needs in a holistic manner.

Course Description
Our Holistic Massage Diploma Course is designed for complete beginners and no prior experience is required. Students are however required to have a keen interest in Holistic Therapies and the dedication to further their education.

At Beauty Academy this course has been developed to teach any aspiring individual the fundamental of therapeutic bodywork.

This course is also a stepping-stone and can open doors for much other body work and massage courses such as Sports Injury Massage, Indian Head Massage, Aromatherapy and Herbal Medicine, Reflexology, Ayurvedic Massage etc.

The Holistic Massage syllabus comprises of the following:

The basics of Swedish Therapeutic Body Massage, and guidance on how to develop a massage routine for each individual client.
Development of a holistic approach - treating the 'mind, body and spirit'.
The proper application of massages techniques and use of body posture.
The benefits of massage and its contraindications.
Identification and location of body surface landmarks - including muscles and bones.
