This certificate is intended to give students a comprehensive overview of the IT sector.
Students will participate in a range of IT-related modules encompassing a wide range of technologies.
The programme is suitable for those who wish to work within the IT sector. The course will also act as a foundation year for relevant third-level programmes.
The course requires full-time attendance for a period of one year. All facilities are provided by the college including workstations and other IT facilities including the industry standard software. Candidates are required to secure and undertake a work placement during the year as part of the Work Experience module.
Aims and Objectives Candidates will study the following FETAC modules:
Computer Architecture and Systems Computer Programming The Internet Web Authoring Communications Safety and Health at Work Personal Effectiveness in the Workplace Work Experience Entry Requirements An interest in the subject is essential. Suitable candidates will be called for interview.
