Course Description
This course covers the essential Beauty skills of Manicure, Pedicure and Nail Enhancements.
Students on this course learn how to :- Effectively analyse the skin condition of the hands and feet in addition to the nail shape, type and condition. Students learn how to perform a professional manicure, pedicure, how to choose and apply the correct nail system (gel, acrylic and fibreglass) for the particular client. Contra-indications and Salon hygiene practices are also learned and practised on this course.
Knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the hand, foot and nails and cosmetic science underpin the effective prescription of this Beauty Treatment. Finally, the Professional Conduct and Business Awareness Modules on this Diploma Course ensure that the ITEC Qualified Nail Technician is armed with all the practical, theoretical and business skills necessary to succeed in professional practice.

Manicure & Pedicure Nail shaping and filing , application of enamels and varnishes , cleansing of nails , manicure of nails , specialized treatments to include hot oil , paraffin wax , hand masks , exfoliation and thermal treatments. Nail Technology Section Contra-indications, nail diseases and disorders, selection and application of appropriate nail systems(gel, acrylic, fibreglass), the concept of UV, theory and removal of nail enhancements, hygiene practices, aftercare Professional Conduct & Business Awareness Professionalism as a therapist , business awareness , marketing , advertising , different types of business , health & safety , legislation. Examinations: Students take a multiple choice theory test, followed by a practical examination. Continuous Assessment is in the form of case studies.
*Please note that qualified Beauty Specialists or equivalent, are required to take only the Nail Technology Module. Proof of Qualification must be sent in with the application enrolment form.
